Two prominent anti-aging scientists are betting the farm over who will buy the farm first.
Dmitry Kaminskiy, a senior partner at Deep Knowledge Ventures in Hong Kong, and Alex Zhavoronkov, Ph.D., the CEO of the anti-aging drug company Insilico Medicine Inc. in Russia, signed a wager last month at a large anti-aging science conference stating that the one who died first owed the other a million dollars in stock or cash.
“If one of the parties passes away before the other, $1 million in Insilico Medicine stock will be passed to the surviving party,” the agreement stated, adding that if the company is no longer in existence the other has to pony up the dollar amount in cash.
This life-or-death gamble will kick in on Feb. 24, 2079, Zhavoronkov’s hundredth birthday — he turned 36 today and is just over a year younger than Kaminskiy. Zhavoronkov said the competition came about as a way combat psychological aging and ensure each man’s continued desire to live.
Zhavoronkov told ABC News that there are a few ground rules for the bet.
“We are not allowed to contribute to each other’s demise and I cannot recommend any treatments to Dmitry,” he said. “Each one of us will have his own strategy for testing the various interventions.”
Kaminskiy could not be reached for comment.
Zhavoronkov is supremely confident he will win the bet.
He has been taking low-dose aspirin since 1998 plus an anti-aging cocktail of statins and other supplements for over four and a half years. He’s had an HPV shot to prevent cancer and takes other drugs to avoid getting the flu. He has a diagnostics lab on speed dial to quickly triage any signs of health trouble.
But he admitted that Kaminskiy may have an edge due to an enviable family history for longevity, stable sleeping patterns and a regular exercise routine.
“Access to a few hundred million dollars, state of the art information systems and a venture fund investing in longevity companies also helps,” he said. “But I still believe in the power of simple, affordable and reasonably safe interventions.”
Science is on the cusp of some huge breakthroughs in anti-aging science, said Zhavoronkov. For example, he said he believed that Insilico will be the first to deliver a set of working solutions to significantly and conclusively slow down aging within the next 12 to 24 months.
Besides vitamin C, grapefruit contains vitamins А, B, D, E, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, and phosphorus. It has antibacterial properties and it also contains antioxidants.
Grapefruit in combination with honey makes a great elixir which will help you maintain beauty and health, and it will also help you burn calories.
– 1 grapefruit
– 1 tablespoon of honey
Peel the grapefruit, cut it into small pieces and put it in a blender together with the honey. Mix everything well until you get homogeneous mixture.
The resulting beverage contains pectin which has the ability to lower both bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It will also decrease blood sugar level and will normalize your metabolism. If you consume grapefruit on a daily basis you will be able to lower bad cholesterol level by 15%, and when it comes to triglycerides, you will be able to drop their levels by 27%.
This remedy is rich in lycipene as well. This compound is great fighter against toxins and harmful materials in the organism.
Just several sips of this beverage after a meal can burn half of the calories you have entered through that meal.
However, grapefruit can increase some pills’ effects. This is why you must consult your doctor before drinking this beverage if you are taking any kind of therapy.
Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit-based drinks if you are taking any kinds of medications for lowering blood pressure, medicaments against cancer, heart statins, antidepressants and/or antibiotics.
Are butter and coffee the answer to weight loss? According to Dave Asprey, the creator of the Bulletproof Diet, these two foods along with a laundry list of “bulletproof” foods are how you can shed pounds and reclaim your energy. If you think this diet is different than all the others, you’re sadly mistaken.
Asprey, once morbidly obese, lost weight and has spent over 15 years and over $300,000 hacking into his own biology. The theory behind the diet is if you choose bulletproof foods, and avoid those that are kryptonite and “toxic” foods, you will lose weight, become smarter and transform your life (mind and body).
There’s no calorie counting or measuring portions. and the weight will melt away without an ounce of exercise. The diet consists of 50 to 60 percent calories from healthy fat, 20 percent from protein and 20 to 30 percent from vegetables.
Bulletproof Coffee is a must-have on the plan. Asprey claims that most coffee beans are filled with toxins, so it’s important to purchase “low toxin” beans from your local store. To make your morning Bulletproof Coffee, combine “low toxin” coffee with grass-fed butter and either coconut oil or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. This 400-calorie cup of joe promises to help get you into ketosis so you can burn fat, lose weight and halt hunger. Bulletproof Coffee can help you follow intermittent fasting if you choose, so snacks are not encouraged.
There are so many rules on this plan it can make your head spin. Here are some of the main ones:
1. Eliminate gluten and sugar.
2. Limit fruit to one to two servings per day.
3. Eat foods high in fat, like pasteurized egg yolks, krill oil, grass-fed meat fat and marrow, avocado oil, coconut oil, and sunflower lecithin.
4. Limit polyunsaturated fats (like safflower and sunflower oil).
5. Choose organic grass-fed butter as your main source of dairy. If you are allergic, ghee or colostrum (from the cow) are alternatives.
6. Choose grass-fed meats that are as fatty as possible. If grain-fed meat is your only option, then choose the leanest option.
